I grew up an Anglophile obsessed with all things the U.K. had to offer: history, music, literature, culture. I loved the history of England, Wales, and Scotland. I was avidly in love with Shakespeare. The era of the Tudors fascinated me, that I inherited from my mother.
In the year 2000 my family went on a two week vacation to France. I was in love before I had even left Charles de Gaulle Airport. I had been reading French history for a few months and it had gradually been drawing me in. By the time we left Paris I knew I had to return, not to visit but to live. We would go on to make our way south to Provence and the riviera stopping among other places: Vezelay, Annecy, Avignon, Arles, and St. Paul de Vence.
Later in 2000 I would return to Paris to attend the small private photography school Speos Photographic Institute in the 11th arrondisement. I would fall even harder in love with my neighborhood around the charonne metro stop.
